What a weekend!!

I took my daughters to Galveston beach this weekend with my mother-in-law to see a sand castle competition. Some of the castles were really amazing. But.. we had a car accident on the way home.  My mother-in-law fell asleep while driving and hit somebody else. Luckily  everyone is OK and no one was hurt (other than the person we hit who didn’t want to wait around for the police because she said she was fine then showed up today in the hospital). So it’s going to be extra difficult to get to the gym until my car is repaired. Just when I was trying to establish a workable routine. So I may be back to walking aour my living room but I’m commited to getting in my exercise at least 5 days this week no matter what. But hey, we’re OK and it just reaffirms that no is promised tomorrow.

Butt pads anyone?

I took a spinning class yesterday. Intro to spinning at that. Toni warned me not to do anything else but the class but NO, I had to walk for 45 minutes on the treadmill first then take the class. I had a good time during the class-though I can just imagine what the 25 of us looked like as we raced on these bright yellow bikes. The problem? I can barely sit. I would have thought the more cushion the better. During the class I actually looked forward to the uphill climbs that let us stand up and cycle. My legs are sore and I can handle that but I spent all day at work standing up because my backside hurts so much. I am laying on my stomach with my 6 month old right now because I can’t sit. I plan on bringing  an extra towel to sit on next time.

Found a Gym!!

I joined Pure Fitness for Women and I think it’s going to be great. It wasn’t the one close to my house but this gym has all the other things I was looking for. The last gym I belonged to was a dump compared to this one so I’m really excited. They even have free childcare so no more excuses. I plan to get in a circuit workout and some cardio a minimum of four times a week. This summer I’ll make the gym a habit so it’ll be easy to continue once school starts up again.  I may even shock myself and actually put on a bathing suit and go to the water aerobics class.

Gym, here I come…maybe

Ok, Christian is spending the weekend with Mimi (grandma) so I’m packing the baby in the snugli and we’re off to visit some gyms. I’m looking for one with a small membership fee, low monthy dues, childcare, and extended hours close to my house. Hopefully I hit the jackpot at the gym right acroos from my subdivision. I think I’ve got the eating under control so now it’s time to really tackle the exercise part of the lifestyle change. Wish me luck.

I Love My Sister

I think I have the best sister in the world. Toni and my mom came to Houston for the weekend and we had a great time. We worked out in my living room at midnight while my mom looked at us like we were both crazy. We kept each other on the right eating path when we ate out and spent Saturday walking (and spending money). I even lost 2 lbs. while she was here. My conclusion…

They both need to move in with me. My mom can watch the girls while Toni acts as the personal live in fitness trainer. I’d have all this weight off in no time.

I hate exercising!!

It’s Wednesday and I’ve walked (around my living room) three times this week for 30 minutes. I know it’s not much but it’s the most purposeful physical activity I’ve done in about 2 years. I’ve also been tracking my steps w/ a pedometer for the Woman Challenge 2007. The Slimbuddy team was full but I will participate individually as way to be accountable for physical activity weekly. So far I’m averaging 11 to 12 thousand steps a day.

If I get in 2 more 30 min. walks this week I will have met my personal goal to “do something” at least 4 times this week. Exercising is by no means enjoyable to me so If you know of any good DVD’s or suggestions other than join a gym please share. My husband works evenings so it has to be something I can do with a 5 year old and a 6 month old in tow.

My goal for next week is going to be to get 2 of the 4 walks done outside.

Letting my 5 yr. old be in charge of excercise

Last week I was only successful in getting in 20 min. of a walking excercise tape 1 time before the baby was fed up.This week I’ve decided to let my oldest daughter be in charge of reminding Mommy that we need to excercise. I’m sure she’ll remember. In fact she’ll probably bug me until I do it just to get her to stop asking me about it. I am going to aim for at least four 30 minute sessions this week.

Maybe the lure of cash will help me out

We have a weight-loss challenge going on at work. $1 per week to join and the biggest loser (percentage lost) gets the pot. I was the winner last week. 4.8 lbs Yeah! I am so tempted to go get on my scale just to “see” how this week is going. But I have a bad habit of jumping on it way too much and expecting it to always show a loss. I think I’ll go play Barbies w/ my 5 yr. old to take my mind off all of the carbs I can’t have. I can’t belive I used to play w/ these for hours. How many outfits can one doll wear?

May 9, 2007

This is my first entry so I guess it can be expected to be the hardest. Today was a pretty good day as far as eating goes. Ordered a salad for lunch and will be having an “atkins” dinner. The one thing I wish I could have… macaroni and cheese! It’s most tempting when I make it for my daughter-can’t deprive a 5 year old just ‘caus mommy is on a diet. Now if only I could get this excercise thing going…
